Why choose EE
EE has a very wide 4G footprint, strong rural coverage in many regions and a large base of business and public sector customers. It is often the strongest network at remote sites such as farms, reservoirs and construction compounds. Always test the signal where the router will be installed, because coverage varies street by street.
Single network EE or multi network?
A single network EE SIM makes sense when you have confirmed that EE is strong at the site, or when you want EE in one slot of a dual SIM router alongside a different network group in the other. Good pairings are EE with O2, or EE with Vodafone or Three.
If you are not sure which network is best, or cannot visit the site, a multi network SIM that includes EE will choose for you and keep the same fixed IP on every network.
What you can do with an EE fixed IP
- View CCTV recorders and cameras directly with the manufacturer app or a browser.
- Run a site-to-site VPN from a remote router back to head office.
- Program and monitor PLCs and building controls.
- Provide backup broadband that keeps your VPNs and remote access working when fibre fails.
Questions we are often asked
Is an EE fixed IP SIM the same as an EE business SIM?
No. A standard EE business SIM normally sits behind carrier-grade NAT with a changing address. A fixed IP SIM uses a dedicated APN that gives the same address every time.
Does EE support 5G on fixed IP SIMs?
Where the tariff and your router support 5G and EE has 5G coverage, the SIM will use it and keep its fixed IP.
Can I keep an EE SIM as a backup to another network?
Yes. Putting EE in the second slot of a dual SIM router alongside O2 or VodafoneThree is a common and effective setup.
